Eligible Candidates – Eastern Off-Reserve Trustee By-Election

The following is a list of Eligible Candidates that are running for the By-election of one (1) Eastern Off-Reserve Trustee for the Long Plain First Nation Trust.

Robert Francis: He currently lives in Portage La Prairie, Mb. He is also a former Councillor of Long Plain First Nation. Currently he is a Head Start Driver for the Head Start Program located in Long Plain First Nation.

Patricia A. Myran: Has resided in Winnipeg, Mb for 47 years. She Graduated from U of W with a BA in history. She was a Historical land claims researcher, director and assistant director for the Treaty & Aboriginal Rights Researcher Centre of Manitoba. She was employed at the Centre for 17 years. She also sat on Long Plain Election Interview Committee for the past 3 elections and also sat as a technician for AFN’s Chiefs Committee on claims for 5 years.

Elvis Pelletier: His pertinent experience includes the following;

10 years carpentry building with CMHC housing.

6 years contracting business CMHC, RRAP, on & off reserve,

5 years agricultural worker

The Election will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at the Rufus Price Building, located at Room210/5000 Crescent Road West. Voting Polls will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 pm and the ballot count will start at 8:15 p.m.

A signatory to Treaty 1, 1871 (Adhesion Treaty of June 20, 1876) Long Plain First Nation is an Ojibway and Dakota community in the central plains region of Manitoba.


The Long Plain population is over 4,500 and is comprised of 3 reserves of which 2 are urban. The urban reserves are situated along the city limits of Portage la Prairie and in the City of Winnipeg.
